Mark Cheong (b.1988), is a staff photojournalist working for Singapore’s largest English broadsheet daily, The Straits Times. He picked up photography as a skateboarder in his teens, using it as a form of journal taking while dabbling in black and white film at Temasek Polytechnic’s School of Design. He has covered both local and international news events, including the 2015 Singapore Grand Prix, the Bersih rallies in Kuala Lumpur, the 2015 Myanmar Elections, and Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s visit to the Middle East. His current interests lie in Southeast Asia, especially the cultural and historical aspects of Myanmar.
